About Our University
The University of Ostrava is a dynamic research institution which offers a high quality level of education and research in the humanities, social and natural sciences, health studies, medicine and fine arts. About 9000 students study in 6 faculties:
▪ Faculty of Social Studies
▪ Faculty of Education
▪ Faculty of Fine Arts and Music
▪ Faculty of Arts
▪ Faculty of Medicine
▪ Faculty of Science.
The small size of the university and its relative youth (our university is only 33 years old) allows for a highly individual approach to our students and flexible reactions to the needs of an up-to-date society and labor market. The university offers not only top quality education, but also many other possibilities for those who wish to fulfil their visions, whether it is studying other languages, founding a student organization, or gaining other practical experience. The university actively searches for opportunities for their students to raise their qualifications and help them kick off their careers. The university is simply an essential part of the city and its social life. We like to say that the whole city is our campus. Speaking of which, our university recently built a brand-new, cutting edge City Campus that is now welcoming its first students.

Ostrava city
Ostrava is located in the Czech Republic, a country in the very center of Europe. The Czech Republic boasts a high standard of living while being one of the cheapest countries in Europe. It is also the 8th safest country in the world.
Ostrava is the third most populous city in the Czech Republic with a population of 300 thousand. The lively and poetic atmosphere of the formerly industrial city of Ostrava is perfect for student experiences. In terms of services, it offers all the comforts of a European metropolis (several shopping centers, its own party street, many local seasonal events and much more) but the atmosphere is much calmer and the cost of living is comparably significantly lower. Let us also point out our dense and high-quality public transport network, that makes getting around very convenient and affordable for inhabitants and students. Ostrava also has a great geographic position and is in a close vicinity to a mountain range. It takes less than 15 minutes to travel to Poland and less than 50 minutes to visit our eastern neighbour Slovakia. You only need a few hours by train and you can travel to pretty much anywhere in Europe.
